High-Efficiency FCME-based Noise Power Estimation for Long-Term and Wide-Band Spectrum Measurements

Statistics in terms of spectrum occupancy are useful for efficient and smart dynamic sharing, the statistics can be obtained by long-term wide-band measurements. In this paper, we investigate noise floor (NF) estimation energy detection (ED)-based wideband measurements since NF heavily affects ED performance eventually accuracy occupancy. Specifically, address following problems simultaneously first time measurement field: (1) slow timevarying property NF, (2) frequency dependency (3) presence signal, (4) computational cost estimation. Firstly, apply Forward consecutive mean excision (FCME) algorithm-based to deal with above three ((1), (3)) successfully. Second, propose an level change on top FCME fourth problem. The proposed exploits time-varying NF. only if significant is detected, performed reduce redundant estimations. numerical evaluations, show efficiency validity problems, compare method without detection.
